Despite the tall-scoring draw, however, the pressure would be squarely on the hosts after the English second innings saw them run away to a 500 plus score. Ore pertinently, it was at the loss of only one wicket. The Australia bowlers struggled to get any traction from the surface and by the time the game was over, the Australian selectors had shown their alarm by getting Ryan Harris and Doug Bollinger into the squad.

Interestingly, at the end of the third day of that game, it had looked like the Aussies had taken full control of the game and at worse, would have to face a hard-fought, backs-to-wall sort of a draw from England. Instead, the English top three had turned the things totally around on its head.

The Ashes 2nd Test – Australia vs England – Adelaide Oval 10:30AM Local TimeThe 2nd Test in Adelaide is always interesting; last year’s encounter between the West Indies and Australia was a draw although Chris Gayle made an impressive century.
But this time the test is obviously between the biggest rivals in cricket, and arguably in world sport, Australia and England, it is the 2nd Test of the 2010/2011 Ashes Series, in Adelaide.

The new Members Stand has been constructed, but SACA is not doing very well on or off the field at the moment, but hopefully they can host a classic match, just like the last Ashes Test match in Australia, which Shane Warne was the king of. That test was one of the most memorable for many, with Paul Collingwood making 206, Pietersen 156, Ponting also then made 142 in the first innings, then came the 2nd innings, with England only making 129, and Australia making 168 to lead the series 2-0.

The First Test had many positives and negatives for both teams, with batsmen playing well for the Aussies and the Poms, unfortunately many thought it would be the last we saw of Marcus North for a while, but with no new batsmen being named in the 13 man squad, it looks like he will have one more chance. Doug Bollinger and the firing Ryan Harris have both been named in the squad of 13 for Adelaide, and both could play in the match, possibly taking the spots of Ben Hilfenhaus and Mitchell Johnson, who were both well below average in the first test. Australia were embarrassed by England in the second innings, by only taking eleven wickets, although England took the same amount, one big positive to take out of the game was that Ricky Ponting made a quick fire 50 which hopefully has given him some form, Watson also had a nice innings.
